Common questions about SGHere — how the data works, what's supported, and how to get the most out of the app.
How often does bus arrival data update?
Every 30 seconds. SGHere fetches live data from Singapore's LTA DataMall API. The "last updated" timestamp on each stop card shows exactly when data was last refreshed.
Why does it say "may be stale"?
This means the app couldn't refresh data recently — usually due to a weak internet connection or the LTA API being temporarily unavailable. The displayed arrivals are from the last successful fetch. Try pulling to refresh or checking your connection.
How do arrival alerts work? Do I need to keep the app open?
There are two modes:
- In-page alerts — work while the tab is open and notify you inside the app.
- Push notifications — work in the background (even with the tab closed) but require adding SGHere to your home screen and allowing notification permission.
Both alert you when your bus is about 2 minutes away.
Does SGHere work offline?
Partially. After your first visit, the app shell and stop database are cached for offline use. You can browse saved stops and see the map.
However, real-time data (arrivals, parking availability, crowd levels) requires an internet connection since it comes from live APIs.
Which browsers and devices are supported?
SGHere works in any modern browser — Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge on both mobile and desktop.
Push notifications require Chrome on Android or Safari 16.4+ on iOS. For the best experience, we recommend Chrome on Android or Safari on iPhone.
Why can't I see MRT crowd levels?
Crowd level data comes from LTA's real-time API which is only available during operating hours. If trains aren't running (e.g., after midnight), crowd data won't be available.
Also, some stations may temporarily have no data if LTA's sensors are offline.
How accurate is the parking availability?
Parking data comes from LTA's CarPark Availability API which updates every 1 minute. It covers HDB and URA car parks.
Private car parks (malls, commercial buildings) are not included as they don't share data publicly. The numbers are quite accurate but may lag by up to 2 minutes.
Can I use SGHere without giving location permission?
Yes. Location is optional. Without it, you can still search for any bus stop by code or name, save favourites, check MRT status, and set arrival alerts.
You just won't be able to use the Nearby map or see distances to stops.
How do I add SGHere to my home screen?
iPhone (Safari)
Open sghere.com in Safari, tap the Share button, select "Add to Home Screen".
Android (Chrome)
Open in Chrome, tap the ⋮ menu, select "Add to Home screen" or "Install app".
Once installed, it opens full-screen like a native app.
Is my location data shared with anyone?
No. Your location never leaves your device. It's used only on your phone to calculate distances and show nearby markers on the map.

What does "Last" mean next to a bus service?
It means this is the last bus of the day for that service at this stop. After this bus, no more will come until the next morning. If you see this indicator, don't miss it!
Why do some stops show "No services"?
This can happen for a few reasons:
- The stop code might be incorrect
- All buses at that stop may have finished service for the day (after ~midnight)
- There's a temporary data outage from LTA
Try refreshing, or check if it's past the last bus time.
How do I clear cached data without losing my favourites?
Go to Settings (gear icon in the bottom nav) and tap "Clear Cache". This removes cached transit data (stop database, old arrivals) but keeps your saved favourites, nicknames, and settings intact.
The app will reload fresh data on next use.
What's the difference between the ★ star and 🔔 bell?
The ★ star saves a stop to your favourites — it's permanent and shows on your home screen every time you open the app.
The 🔔 bell sets a one-time arrival alert for a specific bus — it notifies you when that bus is 2 minutes away, then auto-dismisses.
